Properly chuffed with this dram tonight. It’s got that brilliant old school sherry profile, definetly from a good quality refill sherry butt. It feels globally much fatter and greasier than I expected, with a lovely bit of bodega funk. There's a sharp and rather brutal saltiness to it, mixed with salted walnuts, soot, and earthy black tea. Then you get big wafts of hessian, old coins, and a nicely leathery edge with sandalwood. Some medicinal and peppery notes too. It gets way more punchy with time in the glass, reminds me of those old Cadenhead dumpies. The finish is bloody long. 🥃
