Blimey, this one’s properly bonkers 🤯 That rather mad maturation’s worked absolute wonders, mind. First that sharp quince jelly hits your sharp palate, then a whack of horseradish and mustard, little medicinal twang, even Sichuan pepper fizz that zings your tongue. Then the Amontillado squared notes roll in, deep gold liquid, drier amontillado tones, hint of old furniture newly varnished, cigar boxes, bitter oranges and a touch of thuja tucked in there too. Salt and saline kick in, plus mosses, pinecones, walnuts, that perfect base of leather and tobacco, maybe a whisper of honey to cut through the whole spice medley. It’s wildly expressive, not for everyone mind, a bit of a beastie but absolutely splendid.
