Glen Mhor was a Highland single malt Scotch whisky distillery located in Inverness. Established in 1892, it featured two traditional pot stills and was renowned for its innovative production methods, including early adoption of Saladin malting boxes. The distillery began officially bottling its single malt in the 1960s, but fell victim to the industry downturn and ceased operations in 1983. The buildings were demolished in 1986, and today Glen Mhor is remembered as one of Scotland's lost distilleries, with its remaining stocks highly sought after by collectors and connoisseurs for their rarity and historical significance.

Blimey mate, this one’s all over the shop 😂 First sip hits with that sharp medicinal streak, peppery kick, sour herbal notes and a whiff of wild garlic. There’s wee inflections of silage, farmyard cider zap, plus smoked teas and old beer vibes that remind me of my mate’s dodgy homebrew night. Then it dries out hard, loads of chalky limestone minerality, gritty like concrete dust, faint graphite edge all arid and austere. There’s a slowly emerging waxy side, though it’s got that slightly off wax whiff like an old candle left in a shed. Some bits are proper nice mind – sappy grassy beery stuff, crushed flower stem and vase water vibes, even that funky pickled tarragon note that’s weirdly catchy? But half the time it’s disjointed, rather all over the place, like five whiskies stitched together by a one-armed lunatic. You get stale malt, mashed veg and cereal bits, that low-lying peat hum from the ex-peater cask, and austerity cranked right up to 11. The beery, smoky malt bits keep pulling it back though, even when it’s being very tough.

Puttin’ it straight—this one feels like a rough night at a farm with a side of science lab. First sip hits with a sharp, almost medicinal spice, then you realise it’s peppery with a hint of aniseed that screams ‘pickled tarragon’. It digs in with low peat that’s more like a coal scuttle than a smooth peat; very tough, gritty. After a few beats, the taste splutters into sour herbal notes and a sour, almost soury, yoghurt‑like tang that makes you think of stale malt gone wrong. The middle swirls in bright straw and wild garlic before collapsing into something oddly like crushed flower stem and lime stone. It’s disjointed, discombobulating, more like five whiskies stitched together by a one‑armed lunatic than a single, coherent dram. 🌫️

Blimey, this one’s a proper head-scratcher. Starts with that sharp medicinal kick, like licking a plaster, then bam—olive oil and stale malt having a fight. Bit of wild garlic and smoked tea lurking, but it’s all over the shop. Dry as a bone, gritty like chewing chalk, and that wee whiff of peat’s just… there. Feels like someone chucked five different drams in a blender. Tricky, but oddly fascinating 🤔

Blimey, this one’s a bit of a wild ride. Starts off smoky like a brew that’s been left in a coal scuttle too long—gritty and earthy, with a hint of limestone that’s oddly refreshing. There’s something funky going on, like pickled tarragon and sour herbs tangling with mashed veg and cereal. The peat’s there, but it’s not shouting; more like a whisper from an old ex-peater cask. Mid-palate gets this strange waxy thing happening, almost like candle stubs mixed with banana bread sweetness. It’s austere, proper dry, but then the finish throws in wild garlic and aniseed, which is... tricky. Texture’s thick, a bit concrete-like, and the whole experience feels like it’s been stitched together by someone who’d had a few already. Loads of weird little inflections—vase water vibes, silage whispers—but weirdly, I’m into it. Just don’t expect it to behave. 🥃✨

Right, first sip and it’s like someone took a few different whiskies and just chucked them in together. Very dry, almost arid, with this gritty texture. I get banana bread at first, then it shifts into something weirdly funky—like pickled tarragon or stale malt. There’s a sharp medicinal streak, maybe from the ex-peater cask? 😵‍💫 Some crushed flower stems and vase water vibes appear, alongside low-lying peat and a bit of silage. Really all over the place. Smoked beers and mashed turnip pop up too. It’s disjointed, but there’s a slowly emerging waxy side and a sappy quality that I actually quite like. Whole thing feels back on austerity up to 11, like a farmyard cider with aniseed and yoghurt notes. Wild garlic and sour herbal hints trail off into concrete. Medium-bodied but with a wild character. Funky, messy, and strangely compelling.
