Cameron Bridge stands as one of Scotland's most historically significant and largest grain whisky distilleries. Located in Windygates, Fife, its origins trace to the 17th-century Haig family dynasty—Robert Haig allegedly operated one of Scotland's earliest documented distilleries, famously reprimanded in 1655 for Sabbath distilling. In 1824, John Haig established Cameron Bridge, which became the cradle of continuous column still technology through cousin Robert Stein's innovations. Today, as Diageo's primary grain whisky production hub, it yields over 30 million liters annually from multiple column stills, supplying spirit for iconic blends like Johnnie Walker and J&B. Single grain expressions such as Cameron Brig and the modern Haig Club showcase its light, vanilla-forward character. Following the 1877 merger that created Distillers Company Ltd and 1919 acquisition, the distillery underwent a £9 million refurbishment in the 1990s, reopening in 2000 as a state-of-the-art facility. Using wheat-dominant mash bills and pristine Fife spring water, Cameron Bridge represents the perfect marriage of historic legacy and modern efficiency in Scotch whisky production.

Just had a wee dram the other day, proper nice little thing 🥃 Got those bright notes of pears straight away, little hits of apples too, almost like a light white wine at first sip. There’s that slight bitter side in the background, always pops up in these, maybe from the oak? Not unpleasant at all, just keeps it from being too sweet. Had it on ice and it got even lighter, like a feather, honestly. Tiny bit of lightly bready note, wee grassy edge too, pears take over more the longer you sip it. Super easy to drink, medium body, not too complex but not raw either? Yes and no I suppose, but for a casual afternoon dram it’s spot on.

Had a wee dram neat, it’s rather raw at first but then mellows into lightly bready and sweet apple notes. Fresh pear and a hint of green walnut come through, with a wee leafiness and just a touch of grass. The oak gives it a clean, almost white wine or white calvados feel. Very easy drinking, not unpleasant at all. 🍇

This one’s very easy to drink, quite medium in strength. The first thing I get is loads of pears and apples, almost like a white calvados. It’s got a sweet, fresh fruitiness with notes of green walnuts and a bit of orange skin. The spirit itself feels a bit raw and simple, though. There’s a lightly bready note, something brioche-y maybe, and just a wee leafiness in the background. A hint of grass comes through too. Honestly, it’s certainly not bad at all. It’s clean and light, almost like a white wine in a way. The pears really take over as it sits. 🍐 I think I’d quite like it on ice, or even better, use it in cocktails. There’s something slightly bitter lingering from the oak, which might be why it feels so straightforward on its own. Just as easy as a light feather.

Poured this one over ice. It's very easy to drink, almost too easy. First thing I get is apples, fresh ones, then some pears join in. Feels quite clean and sweet, like a white wine but with a bit more going on. There's a hint of orange skin and a little grassiness, which I quite like. Not unpleasant at all. You can taste a wee bit of oak, maybe some notes of green walnuts in the background. The mouthfeel is medium, lightly breading, kind of brioche-y. It’s a simple spirit, but better than some others. Would be perfect in cocktails. The pears really take over as it sits. 🍐

Warm and a bit smoky, with honey, oak and a wee spicy kick. Feels smooth, cosy, and slightly fruity at the end 🥃 Nice for a slow evening, honestly.
