Blimey, this one’s got a right old kick – reminds me of a Vodka-Red Bull hangover mixed with a 25-year-old Malt Mill’s stubborn refusal to behave. There’s a wee earthiness crawling around, like someone’s been storing damp leaves in a plywood department at Home Depot’s. The gentian’s trying to be kind, but it’s got that eau-de-vie-ish sharpness, all woody varnish and broken branches. Funny thing is, it’s grassier than a summertime park, yet sweeter than you’d expect – a proper odd couple. The cask’s previous content must’ve had huge influence, cos there’s touches of earth and a medium body that’s more ‘silent distillates’ than shouty. Not sure what it’s trying to prove, but it’s doing it with a smirk. 🥃
