With roots tracing back to 1773, this Kentucky distillery represents one of America's most storied whiskey traditions. Though early distillation practices began on-site in the late 18th century, commercial production was first documented in the early 1800s. Today, Kentucky boasts over 2,000 licensed distilleries, yet this brand stands apart. Originally known as Leestown Distillery—a name still revered by connoisseurs—the operation was meticulously developed by Harrison Blanton before changing hands multiple times prior to the Civil War. In 1870, the distillery found its most influential steward in Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr., a legendary figure now celebrated as a founding father of modern American bourbon. His commitment to quality, innovation in sour mash fermentation, and advocacy for the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897 cemented the distillery's reputation for producing whiskey of exceptional character and consistency. Each bottle embodies over two centuries of Kentucky craftsmanship, from the limestone-filtered water to the charred American oak barrels, delivering a complex spirit with notes of caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak that has defined premium bourbon for generations.

no no no,这风格不太对我胃口。

Just had a sip of this one, and crikey, it's a bit experimental for my taste. 🥃 The colour's a deep gold, which looks promising, but the flavour's quite rough – too much oak, like warm sawdust mixed with something varnishy. You get vanilla and caramel notes, with hints of honey and maple syrup making it rather caramelly sweet. But there's a biting edge, and it lacks freshness, you know? Not enough rye either; I swear I got hints of agave syrup which is odd. No no no, just not for me. 🥴

Proper dram, this one. Nose is all warm vanilla and burnt sugar right off 🍮 Then a wee hint of dried apple peel and maybe a flicker of cinamon. First sip’s oily, coats the tongue lovely. Honeyed nuts, dark toffee, and a soft whiff of woodsmoke in the back. Tiny touch of orange zest comes late 🍊✨ Finish hangs about for ages—spiced oak and a gentle, peppery tickle. Really comfy sipper, like an old armchair by the fire 🔥

Okay so... first sip? Warmth right down the middle, nice. 🍯 Then there's this sort of... smoky thing? Like a campfire that's almost out. And maybe some honey, but not too sweet. Kinda like you'd just eat a spoonful. Holds up well in the glass. 👍 After a bit, get some fruit? Or is it cake? Hard to tell. But it's good. Feels like a proper drink, you know?

Right then, so this one's got a proper oaky start 🥃 with a bit of vanilla and some citrus peel coming through. There's a sort of smoky, malty thing in the middle, quite warming. A bit spicy at the end, maybe some nutty notes. Quite complex, it is. Really makes you think. 👍 A solid wee dram for a cold night. 😊
