Amrut is India's pioneering single malt whisky, distilled purely from barley malt, water, and yeast. While many Indian whiskies cannot be sold as "whisky" in the UK due to molasses-based composition, Amrut meets all international standards and has successfully conquered global markets. Its breakthrough is no accident—Amrut's exceptional quality genuinely rivals many prestigious Scotch whiskies, earning numerous international awards and establishing India as a serious whisky-producing nation. Distilled in Bangalore, Amrut benefits from India's unique climate, which accelerates maturation and creates distinctive, complex flavor profiles.

Absolutely love this dram! The nose hits you with this incredible mix of tart blood oranges and cloves, like a mulled wine that’s been spiked with chartreuse. There’s a real exceptional nose here – citrus and marmalade dancing with drier spices and a hint of unsweetened herbal teas. On the palate, it’s all about balance – earthy tones, figs, and prunes-and-marzipan swirling together, with a whisper of bitter chocolate and that perfect chocolate richness. The mid-palate brings in a touch of rubber and sappy oranges, which sounds weird, but it works, like the best Mars bar ever dipped in liquorice. The finish is long and dry, no sweet and cloying nonsense, just a lingering hint of cinnamon mints and maraschino. Deep amber in the glass, and I reckon it’d only get better with twenty further years of bottle ageing. In short, the sherry influence is fantastic, and it’s fan-tas-tic value for a star of whiskydom. 😊🥃

Ooh, that nose just smacked me right in the face—like a Christmas market stall all crammed into one glass. First off, this deep amber glow? Proper inviting, like a well-aged sherry cask had a cosy nap in there for twenty years. Then the first sip—bloody hell, it’s like someone’s shoved a whole Christmas cake into my gob, but in the best way. Those cloves and cinnamon mints are doing a little jig with the ginger, while the sappy oranges and marmalade keep things bright. The figs and prunes-and-marzipan give it this rich, almost chewy depth, like the best Mars bar ever but with more class. And oh, the chocolate—bitter and perfect, wrapped up in a bit of flowered fudge sweetness. The liquorice and maraschino just sneak in like old friends at a party, while the tart blood oranges and citrus keep it from getting too heavy. A touch of rubber? Yeah, I’ll buy that—gives it a bit of edge, like a well-worn leather armchair in a fancy whisky bar. The finish? Long and dry, with those drier spices and unsweetened herbal teas lingering like the last notes of a mulled wine. Fan-tas-tic.

Lovely clean dram, quite sherried but not too much. I get orange liqueur, marmalade, cherries and a wee bit of raspberry, with rose water and rosehip tea floating about 🌹 The oak feels pretty active, giving cinnamon, ginger, pepper and star anise, plus a touch of liquorice. No burnt match or rubbery thing at all, which is nice. Long, tidy finish with lemon balm and gentle spice — honestly, very much my sort of pour.

Well, poured myself a dram last night. Honestly, the smell hit me first – so rich, like a best Mars bar ever melted down with some figs and that mulled wine spice. Deep amber colour, looked proper inviting. Took a sip, and you know, it was all there. Got a bit of that chewy liquorice and maraschino cherry sweetness right at the start, then it shifted. Felt a bit like sipping on good, unsweetened herbal teas, you know, that earthy, slightly bitter edge. A whisper of ginger and cinnamon mints followed, kind of warming. Kept thinking it had a real star of whiskydom balance. The finish? Long and dry. Left a last note of bitter chocolate and, oddly, a lovely memory of ham cooked in orange juice from Sunday roast – that sweet-savoury thing. A tiny touch of rubber crept in, but not in a bad way, just interesting. Honestly, gave me that feeling of a late-harvest gewürztraminer, all complex and lingering. Really enjoyable one. 👍
