Poured a glass, nice deep gold colour. 😊 First thing I got on the nose was rather elegant, green apples and lemon and ginger – quite zesty, but then a huge wave of oakiness came through, like walking into a carpenter’s workshop with brand new furniture and sawdust. There’s vanilla and marzipan in there too, and a bit of that green, grassy hay. The taste – wow, loads of bubblegum and sweet oak all over the place, which you’d expect at this strength. It’s not that hot for such high proof, which is a pleasant surprise. More rhubarb and bitter oranges now, with some liquorice and that classic bourbon feel. A bit of tannins giving it structure. It finishes long, with sour fruits and green bananas coming back, and a hint of cigar box. Quite simple but good stuff. Honestly, nicer than it sounds when you list all that out!
