Thomson 23 años Single Malt Whisky

Thomson Whisky is a pioneering New Zealand whisky brand that emerged from the country's rich distilling heritage. Founded by maturation expert Mathew Thomson, the company began its journey as an independent bottler, acquiring the remaining stocks of Willowbank Distillery—the iconic New Zealand distillery that ceased production in 1997. These rare casks were carefully re-casked and finished under the Thomson name, preserving a piece of Kiwi whisky history. Building on this foundation, Thomson Whisky established its own production and pioneered innovative maturation techniques that reflect New Zealand's unique terroir. The brand is renowned for its experimental cask program, utilizing French oak red wine barriques from Central Otago vineyards and indigenous Manuka wood casks—a world-first in whisky maturation. This bold approach to wood management, combined with New Zealand's distinctive maritime climate, creates whiskies with unparalleled complexity and regional character. Today, Thomson Whisky operates as both a guardian of New Zealand's whisky legacy and a forward-thinking innovator, producing small-batch, handcrafted spirits that showcase the country's natural resources and winemaking traditions through a whisky lens.
