Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr. is a super-premium bourbon whiskey brand named after Edmund Haynes Taylor Jr., born in 1832 in Columbia, Kentucky. A grandnephew of President Zachary Taylor, he was a pivotal figure in bourbon history who championed quality standards and the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. The 'Colonel' title is an honorary Kentucky Colonel commission, a civilian award for distinguished service, similar to that held by KFC's Colonel Sanders. Taylor established seven distilleries, most notably the O.F.C. and Carlisle distilleries, which evolved into today's Buffalo Trace Distillery.
