Basil Hayden's Bourbon Whiskey

Basil Hayden's is a premium, light-bodied bourbon whiskey that serves as the elegant entry point to Jim Beam's prestigious Small Batch Collection. Distilled by Beam Suntory, this 80-proof Kentucky straight bourbon is renowned for its approachable, refined character that appeals to both bourbon newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts seeking a more delicate expression. Named after 18th-century master distiller Basil Hayden Sr., who pioneered the use of rye in bourbon mash bills, the brand honors his legacy with a high-rye recipe (approximately 27% rye) that delivers distinctive spicy notes balanced with sweet caramel and vanilla. Unlike its bolder siblings in the collection—Knob Creek (100 proof), Booker's (120-130 proof), and Baker's (107 proof)—which offer higher alcohol intensity, Basil Hayden's distinguishes itself through its lower alcohol content and sophisticated, easy-drinking profile. The brand targets discerning drinkers who appreciate quality craftsmanship without the intensity of higher-proof bourbons, making it ideal for sipping neat, on the rocks, or in elevated classic cocktails. Its signature copper belt buckle on the label and parchment-inspired design evoke a sense of heritage and artisanal quality.
