Cracked this one open on a grey Friday evening and honestly, it hit different. That colour alone — proper amber gold, gorgeous in the glass. 🥃 First sniff and you're basically standing next to a beach campfire, all smoky and coastal, dried seaweed drifting in on the breeze. Then it opens up into something almost like rummaging through a box of cigars in your grandad's study. Dead lovely. On the palate it's strong in flavour but not aggressive about it — the proportions work brilliantly. Peat's there, obvious, but it's not shouting over everything else. You get tar, engine oil, ashes of all kinds... sounds mad but it all fits together like a riff worthy of Jimmy Page. Superb, really. Then there's this little sharp twist — a caper, maybe a small gherkin, little green pepper — just enough to keep things interesting. And then, almost out of nowhere, a bit of grapefuit sneaking in alongside some mint and touches of liquorice. Toasted brioche underneath it all, holding everything together with a bit of dark honey sweetness. 🍯 The finish goes on for ages. More of the same for quite a while, which is exactly what you want on a Friday. Oyster shells and oyster on the way out. Proper coastal dram, this one. Well chuffed with it.
