Strathclyde distillery, a major grain whisky producer in Glasgow, Scotland, was acquired by New York-based Schenley Industries in 1956. Schenley made substantial investments in the facility, most notably adding a single malt whisky brand called Kinclaith in 1958. This unusual move integrated a malt whisky still within a grain whisky complex. Kinclaith operated for a relatively brief period until 1975, making it one of Scotland's rarest single malts. The whisky was primarily used for blending, with very few official bottlings released, though some independent bottlings exist, making it highly sought after by collectors.

Hada dram that reminded me of a pack of sweets with a zesty lemon kick – think lemon squash mixed with a hint of tonic water. There’s a fresh cut‑grass note and a soft marshmallow sweetness, vanilla stays in the background, not too in‑your‑face. Finish is short but rather pleasant, a little like white wine with a varnishy edge. Interesting, no coconutty burst at all. 😊

Had a dram earlier, fairly interesting nose with a hint of cut grass and rhubarb, a touch of lemon squash and zesty grapefruit skin. Palate leans towards marshmallows and a light white wine vibe, not too vanilla-ed, not deep, finishes short like a quick splash of tonic water. Reminds me of a pack of sweets with a whisper of coconut and orange liqueur, but no coconutty burst. 😊

Right so I had a small glass of this tonight and honestly it took me a bit by surprise. First thing that hit me was this really zesty, lemony quality, almost like a proper Schweppes-Lemon sharpness followed by something close to limoncello. There's a grapefruit skin bitterness in there too that I actually quite enjoyed, gave it a bit of bite. It reminded me a bit of white wine at first, quite light and not deep at all really. I got cut grass notes on the nose which was interesting, almost summery. Then there's this varnishy sort of woodiness underneath that keeps things grounded. There's coconut floating about but thankfully no coconutty burst, nothing too in your face. Just a hint there if you look for it, not too coconutty as they say. Less in-you-face vanilla which I appreciated, some background vanilla and marshmallow sweetness but it never takes over. Rhubarb comes and goes in waves, almost like eating from a pack of sweets as a kid but more grown up. Orange liqueur vibes towards the end too. Rather pleasant overall, quick though. Short finish means it's gone before you really settle in. Tonic water would help stretch it out I reckon. Worth a try if you like something light and a bit different. 🥃

This dram’s got a curious mix going on – starts with a sweet, almost candy-like hit, like a pack of sweets or marshmallows, but not too cloying. There’s a zesty grapefruit peel thing happening upfront, sharp and fresh, then some orange liqueur sweetness creeping in. Lemon squash vibes too, makes me think of summer spritzers. It’s not too vanilla-heavy, which is nice, but there’s a faint coconut whisper – not bursting with it, just a subtle nod. The finish is quick, maybe a bit too short for my liking. Some cut grass and that varnishy note in the background, bit odd but not unpleasant. Reminds me of a light white wine spritzer with a weird twist – interesting, but not sure it’s got much depth.

Fascinating this one. First thing that hits me is this zesty, limoncello kinda vibe — really lemony, almost like Schweppes Lemon squash if you added a splash of tonic water. There's a bit of grain in there too, maybe some cut grass and grapefruit skin giving it that sharpness. Not getting any big coconut notes which is fine by me, not too coconutty at all. It's more like white wine territory with a touch of orange liqueur. Some rhubarb sneaks in as well, which I wasn't expecting 🤔 The finish is quite short tbf, not deep at all. Reminds me a bit of marshmallows but without that heavy vanilla — actually quite pleasant that there's less of that in-you-face vanilla you sometimes get. Just a clean, bright dram really. Interesting pour for sure, very summery. Would pair well with sitting in the garden on a warm evening I reckon 🌿
