This dram really hits the spot – pale gold in the glass, takes water extremely well and opens up with a sharp, lemony zing, a hint of grapefruit and a grassy side. There’s a nice metallic/mineral profile, a touch of soot and varnish, and a good side of paraffin that lingers into a long, salty aftertaste. Feels proper Old School, higher strength but not disappointed, perfect lemon notes throughout. 🍃

This dram hits the nose with a bright lemony zing 🍋 – sharp and clean, like squeezing fresh lemon over a campfire. The palate’s got this curious mix: a pale gold hue that reminds me of old varnish, with a shoeshine leather note and a medicinal bite, almost antiseptic. There’s a grassy side, think sun-baked meadows, but then it veers into sooty territory, like the ashes of a bonfire lingering in the back of your throat. The finish is long and metallic, with a whisper of grapefruit rind and a saline tang. Not disappointed at all – it’s got that higher strength kick but swims well with a splash of water. Reminds me of a Spanish white wine crossed with a peaty Islay, same family but with a twist. Perfect minerality, but I’d say it’s more “wood be great” than actually great, if that makes sense. Definitely up my alley, though – very zesty and old-school in the best way.

On the palate it’s grassy and a touch sooty, almost like the good side of paraffin or a quality shoe‑polish shine. There’s a proper old‑school, medicinal note that swims well with a faint grapefruit salt edge, and the metallic/mineral profile is dead‑on perfect. It takes water extremely well – just a splash opens up even more minerality and a subtle grassy side. The finish is a little higher strength, a bit pungent, but totally up my alley, leaving a clean, almost varnish‑like aftertaste that’s really very good. 😊

开瓶就闻到一股子柠檬和青草的味道，还有点灰烬感，像是篝火刚灭不久。凑近闻有点烟熏和矿物质，带点微刺的药水味，但意外地清爽。 倒在杯里是淡淡的金色，酒精感有点冲，但加点水进去简直复活了——柠檬的酸爽更突出了，混着些金属般的矿物感，还有点像老皮具、鞋油那种怀旧的气味。 嗦一口，舌尖先是辣辣的，接着涌上来的全是烟熏和灰烬的调子，偶尔跳出点盐粒的咸。回味特别长，最后留着一股清凉的草本和柠檬皮香，有点像药糖但不讨厌。 这玩意儿太对胃口了，就像喝了一杯带烟熏味的维达乔白葡萄酒，带劲又干净。🔥

Right, poured a dram of this last night. First impression was that pale gold colour in the glass – looks proper, doesn't it? Nose got me straight away. That same family of powerful, industrial scents. A lot of soot, and a sharp, iodine, almost like a bandage from a first-aid kit. There's a touch of varnish and paraffin too – like being in a old workshop or something. A bit of a shoe polish note in there. Not bad, just… intense. On the palate, that's where the grassy and lemony side comes in. A lovely, fresh contrast to all that sooty, mineral profile. The higher strength definitely makes its presence known, but it's got a good side of paraffin that's kinda warming. That wood note would be great, I think, with a bit of time. Finish has a long aftertaste, a bit metallic/mineral. A drop of water and it swims well, opens up more of that verdejo-like crispness and the grassy side becomes more prominent. A complex one, for sure. Certainly not disappointed with it. It's a proper character. 👍
