Did a little side-by-side exercise tonight and, ah yes, they’re closer on the palate than I expected. One feels slightly earthier, with a faint metallic edge, black pepper, and a wee touch of gunpowder. The other leans more towards candied oranges, with a whiff of smoked ham and a bit more coffee drifting about. Excellent in either case, though after knocking back 25cl of each, best to stop here 😅

Ah, the amber one... lovely colour, that. 🥃 Poured myself a dram, had a sniff first. "Ah yes," I thought, "this one’s different." It's not just fruity, it leans more towards candied oranges, maybe? But wait, underneath there's a slighty earthier note, like damp forest floor after rain. And is that... a touch of gunpowder? 🤔 Sipping it now. Interesting. It's got this faint metallic edge that lingers, almost like licking a clean coin. But there's also black pepper there, keeping it lively. The finish... well, the finish utterly lost me at first. Just when you think it's going somewhere sweet, it pulls back with a bit more coffee bitterness. I rather like both expressions, honestly. They're closer on the palate than I expected. This second one has a whiff of smoked ham, even notes of cured ham if I really chase down the nuances. Excellent in either case, really. Doing a side-by-side exercise like this, knocking back 25cl of each, is a great way to notice these things. Though this one feels a little less rounded, perhaps. Best to stop here, I think. Any more and I won't be able to tell them apart at all! 😄

Right then, had a proper dram of this one last night... Gotta say, it's specal. 🔥 First off, get this lovely blast of smokiness, like a bonfire on a chilly nite. Then, oof, a wave of rich, dark cherry hits you. It's proper deep, mate. The finish is long and warming, wth hints of vanilla and spice, maybe a bit of dried fruit lingers. Really satisying, y'know? Makes you want another sip. 👌
