Just had a sip of this whisky – the aroma threw me off with tomato compote and black olives, sweet Vishnu! Tastes like a maelstrom of dates, Jamaican rum, and pipe tobacco, but the ex-bourbon tamed it a bit. Dried figs and raisin bread pop up, with hints of melon liqueur and chestnut honey. Finish is long and brutal, with tar and fig wine lingering. It’s luminous but not quite properly polished around the edges – like crude cocoa or miso sneaking in. Straw wine and pomegranate juice too? Hurray! Reminds me of raki or arrack from Turkey. 🥃😊

老天爷啊，这杯喝下去，第一下闻到的味道，有点像oloroso雪莉酒，但又混着一点Marmite那种咸咸的酵母鲜味，挺奇妙的。 酒液在嘴里滚一圈，居然是清甜的，有种蜜瓜利口酒（melon liqueur）的影子。但立马，像焦油滴子（tar drops）一样的烟熏感就冲出来了，把那股甜劲儿给tamed it。 这绝对不是寻常喝的威士忌，更像…更像一种“Extraordinary Irish whisky”。回味里，chestnut honey那种蜜香和一丝prune juice的微酸搭在一起，还有点像番茄膏（tomato compote）的厚重果味。 再品一口，居然尝到了 cane juice 的清新，还有 crude cocoa 的生涩可可感。Pipe tobacco 的烟丝香气慢慢浮现，啊，对了！有点像chestnut wine那种温润，又带着raisin bread烤面包的温暖感。 这味道简直就是个maelstrom，在嘴里转。后段突然跳出Jamaican rum的浓烈甜感和arrack那种粗犷的米酒劲儿，还混着dates和dried figs的蜜饯味。 真绝了，miso 的豆酱咸鲜和tamarind jam的酸甜果酱感也跑出来了，暖暖的像一碗chicken soup。它有点brutal，但又用figs、fig wine这些甜美的元素给调和了。 喝到后来，straw wine那种稻草和微氧化的味道出来了，基底是扎实的ex-bourbon桶的香草感。尾韵（long finish）里满是molasses的黑糖甜，和那种“not quite properly polished around the edges”的粗粝真实的质感，带着点毛边，但反而更迷人。 喝完了，杯底还有tar和蜜饯的影子。这趟风味之旅… hurray! 🎉

Blimey, just tried this and it's a proper maelstrom in the glass. First off, it's harsh, like tar drops and crude cocoa, but then these luminous notes of dates and figs come through – almost like prune juice mixed with raisin bread. Got a whiff of pipe tobacco and something like tomato compote or miso in the background. Finish is long, lingering with arrack and raki vibes, and a touch of chestnut honey. Not quite polished around the edges, but it tamed it somehow. Hurray! 😊

Lovely warm dram 🥃 Bit of honey, oak and spice, with a soft smoky feel. Goes down cosy, like a quiet evening by the fire. Slightly sweet, nicely mellow, proper comforting.

Oh this one's a proper journey, innit? 🥃 First sip, get this gorgeous vanilla and caramel sweetness, right? Like butterscotch melting. Then—wham—the smoke creeps in, subtle like, not aggressive. Reminds me of autumn bonfires. Finishing notes of dark chocolate and a bit of dried fruit. Long, warm aftertaste that just... lingers. Smooth as anything, no burn at all. Would defs have another, maybe two. 😌 Blinder of a dram this is.
