Pourd a cheeky dram tonight, lovely amber colour in the glass 🥃 Straight away it's a proper heavy peater. Smells exactly like moist garden peat mixed with that classic damp dunnage vibe. Getting some Nescafé granules and the smell of a cold empty old pipe too. There's a faint whiff of struck matches and gunpowder, but then weirdly... touches of lavender? Proper mad but it really works. Taking a sip, and wow, it is absolutely excellent on the palate. You can taste the ex-bourbon influence but those PX octaves definitely take over with a massive hit of dark toffee and burnt molasses. Then it shifts into this savourry Alpine smoked charcuterie and a little leather. Loads of tart orange-y notes popping up alongside a Wonderfully tight homemade Andalusian marmalade and bitter chocolate 🍊🍫 The finish is cracking, really long and saltier than I expected. It fades out a bit same-ish to the main flavours but honestly I ain't complaining. Lovely stuff for a quiet night in.

Just tried this whisky – first thing I got was heavy peat and soot, kinda like a cold empty old pipe. Really reminded me of Alpine smoked charcuterie, with some tart orange-y notes popping up. The color's amber, and there's touches of lavender and a little leather in there. Feels a bit same-ish to others, but the ex-bourbon and PX octaves add a Nescafé sort of depth. Gunpowder and dunnage come through too. Excellent on the palate overall! 🔥

First sip’s got that ex-bourbon sweetness, but then it turns surprisingly salty right at the end. 👅 Darker notes come through… bit of bitter chocolate, maybe a sharp marmalade peel? Not really a “nosing” dram – better straight in the glass. I get a whiff of old coffee grounds, like from an old Nescafé jar. Then there’s this smoky thing, like a heavy peater, but sweet underneath… burnt sugar? Sort of like cold pipe tobacco and struck matches. The mouthfeel’s great, though. Rich and thick. Hints of soot and something dusty, like an old warehouse floor. Doesn’t scream for attention, just settles in. A slow, thinking kind of whisky. 🥃

Right, so pouring this out, it's a lovely amber colour in the glass. On the nose, I'm picking up a little leather and touches of lavender right away, mixed with burnt molasses and Nescafé. Then those tart orange-y notes come through, but honestly, it feels a bit same-ish after a while. 😅 Taking a sip, it's excellent on the palate – wonderfully tight homemade Andalusian marmalade hits first, followed by a long and saltier finish. I'm reminded of dunnage and moist garden peat from old warehouses. There's this cold empty old pipe vibe, with bitter chocolate and a hint of gunpowder. Definitely a heavy peater, with dark toffee and soot lingering. 🥃
