Whiskyspace Notes 1470

Ooft, that’s a right curious one. First sip and you’re hit with this ginger warmth and a sweetness that’s almost peach syrup or bananas, really unusual for what I usually go for. Feels like it spent time in an old rum cask, you know? There’s vanilla and this soft marzipan thing, but it’s not cloying. Gets a bit creamier as it sits. Then there’s this lighter, almost pencil shavings note from the oak, but it’s not harsh. Surprisingly soft for 55%, actually. I’m getting these whispers of coastal air in there, which is nice, keeps it from being too sugary. The finish is long, with a caraway-ish spice that lingers. Honestly, it’s just… different. Not your classic Islay bruiser at all. A bit intriging, in a good way. Just having a wee dram after dinner.
