Right, poured a dram last night. First thing I got was this waft of coal smoke, very obvious, like a distant bonfire. Then underneath, there's a definite peaty and salty tang, really quite sooty on the nose. Taking a sip, it's quite interesting. There's a porridge-y, almost stodgy texture, not unpleasant. I get this wee feeling of morello cherries, but it's a bit sour, and then a little salty, a little brine comes through, reminding me of the coast. Funnily enough, I thought of lapsang souchong again, and maybe some blood oranges on the finish. There's a hint of something green, like cassis leaf tea, and oddly, smoked gherkins? That's not a common profile at all. The Supertuscans don't feel too much compared to this, it's much more rugged. Overall, pretty good. Medium body, quite a lot going on. It's an interesting one to sip on. 👍
