Port Dundas was a historic Scottish grain whisky distillery located in Glasgow, Scotland. Founded in 1811 on the highest point in the city adjacent to the Forth & Clyde Canal, it merged with the neighboring Cowlairs distillery in 1860, consolidating two Coffey still operations into one of Scotland's largest grain whisky producers. As a founding member of the Distillers Company Limited (DCL) in 1877, Port Dundas played a pivotal role in the evolution of the Scotch whisky industry. The distillery became renowned for its exceptional grain whisky, which formed the backbone of many iconic blended Scotch brands including Johnnie Walker, J&B, and Bell's. Operated by Diageo until its closure in 2010, Port Dundas was one of Scotland's last remaining urban grain distilleries. Though the distillery no longer operates, its remaining stocks of mature grain whisky continue to be highly prized for their smooth, light character with delicate notes of vanilla, toffee, and soft spice, representing a significant piece of Scotland's liquid heritage.

Poured a dram and had a nose, it’s quite gentle. Like a lighter jammy fruitiness mixed with some vanilla and milk chocolate. There’s a hint of something that reminds me of an old tin box or a touch of sawdust – very honest, nothing hiding. Sipping it, it’s easy and balanced. Sweet grain comes through, with a bit of coconut and a sherbet fizz that’s quite fun. The fruit is nice, maybe a touch of white wine grape. The finish is short but creamy and honeyed, a pleasant sweetness that lingers for a moment. A solid, normal kind of sipper. 🙂 Good stuff for a Tuesday evening.

Right, just poured myself a dram. It's really easy to drink, light and balanced, like a sweet grain whisky. I get these good fruity notes – a bit of coconut, maybe some lighter jams, and a touch of white wine. There's milk chocolate and honey, with vanilla and soft cakes coming through, almost like sweets or a little sherbet. The finish is short but creamy and honeyed, though there's this metallic side again in the aftertaste, kind of like metal polish or sawdust. Feels a bit girly, honestly, but in a normal, enjoyable way. 😊

Had a glass of this the other night. It was light and easy, almost like a white wine with coconut and vanilla up front. Fruity, with good fruits and lighter jams, plus some honey and a little sherbet kick. The taste was balanced and sweet, with nice grain and a milk chocolate note. Kind of girly, honestly, but in a pleasant way. Finished short but creamy and honeyed, reminding me of soft cakes. There was something metallic, like an old tin box or metal polish, and a hint of sawdust. Very honest whisky, normal but good. 🥃

Just had a sip of this light and balanced sweet grain whisky – it's so easy to drink. Tastes like an old tin box from my childhood, with some honey there. But there's a metallic hint too, almost like licking a coin, and that metallic side comes back in the aftertaste. It's fruity, nice grain character, reminds me of white wine. Got milk chocolate and a little sherbet, like sweets, with good fruits shining through. Really balanced stuff. 😊

Really enjoyed this one – it's good and balanced right from the start. The finish is short but so creamy and honeyed, like a sweet little hug 🍯. I get nice fruits, maybe some lighter jams in there too. It's quite light, with hints of vanilla and even a touch of sawdust, which might sound weird but it's kinda nice. Overall, a balanced sweet grain whisky – fruity and good fruits, the grain's nice, and honestly, it's a bit girly but in a charming way. Perfect for a cozy sip.
