Pouring this, I get this lovely golden colour. And the first thing I pick up is this really sumptuously old-school vibe, like opening dusty old tomes in your attic. 🧐 The taste... wow. It’s got this lush oiliness, then this jolt of spicy beef broth comes through, almost like a stormy old pu-erh tea. There’s this classically salty edge and then this surprising tang, a bit metallic, like photolytic tang or chalk and concrete dust. But then it gets all interesting – an orange bouncing back with marmalade jus, tucked inside. A tango with mineral notes and drifts of wax. The malt content really did the heavy lifting here; the grain is nowhere to be found. It’s briskly corrected by these earthy teas and bouillon spices, making you think of a Bangkok street corner. There’s a curiously persistent finish, like ancient peat and a thunderous old blend. In a weird way, it tastes of light, like a two-penny travelogue in a glass. Makes you wonder what a rogue swarm of bees thought, producing this beehive honey gold. 😄
