Deep gold in the glass, with fudge, vanilla and a bit of marmalade straight away. Not an oak bomb at all, more fresh and neatly held together. I get warm tarte tatin, gingery spice, a touch of aniseed, and that spicy-sweet rye thing, but it stays quite smooth. There’s a wee floral lift too, like wisteria and broom, then burnt sugar, coco cream and pastries lingering nicely 😊 Better balanced than the Texan one I tried, with just a tiny earthy mushroom note at the end.
