Got this Irish pure pot still the other day, fair(ish) price too 🤌 Neat: mouth is very good, clean, fresh and vibrant. That peculiar metallic side hits first but it just works? No oaky ventures at all, oak never comes in the way, thank goodness. Got depth and structure too, tastes of butterscotch, buttered caramel, meringue, stewed fruits, overripe apples, even hints of mandarin liqueur and coconut liqueur, mixed with mango chutney and Turkish delights, that weird oriental fruity combo? Weird but so good, goody good indeed. It’s not malt whisky, softer than bourbon, no rye either. Grain whisky’s not always only oak-flavoured ethanol, innit? Pours a nice gold too. With water I like it even more, brings out praline-like notes, vanilla, tastes like various pastries almost. Finish is quite short but still lovely. Not some 40 year old fancy rare stuff, just a good bottle to own. I really like it very very mucho 😂 Show your friends, they’ll love it. Irish indeed.

Had a dram neat, lovely fresh and vibrant fruit vibe, hints of mango chutney and mandarin liqueur, a touch of buttered caramel and butterscotch, a bit of tropical stuff, and a clean finish. Adding a splash of water opens up the stewed fruits and meringue notes, makes it just work. Ha, now we’re talking! 😊

Ha, now we’re talking! This one’s got a proper clean kick – softer than your usual bourbon, but with a lovely depth and structure. Neat, it’s very good, smooth on the mouth, though there’s a peculiar metallic side that’s oddly intriguing. With water, it opens up beautifully – the tropical stuff comes through, coconut and mango chutney dancing about, plus a hint of mandarin liqueur. The nose? Overripe apples and buttered caramel, maybe even a whiff of praline-like sweetness from those various pastries. It’s fruity, yeah, and very clean, not a hint of rye here. There’s something historical about it, like a half-pre-Castro-Cuban or half-Alfred-Barnard-era label vibe, but the pot still whiskey base keeps it honest. No oak-overload, just pure pot still character. With water, I like it even more – the vanilla and Turkish delights pop. Gold in colour, and that Irish indeed touch makes it feel familiar yet exciting. I quite like this so far. Goody good! 🥃✨

Poured a dram tonight and I quite like this so far. In the mouth neat, it's very good and proper clean. Getting lots of fruity notes straight away, like overripe apples and warm stewed fruits. There’s a lovely praline-like sweetness as well, a bit of meringue and butterscotch mixed in. Goody good! 🍮 It feels very Irish, like a classic pure pot still whiskey. It's defintely not '40 years' old or anything, but it drinks brilliantly. Added a splash and ha, now we’re talking! With water, I like it even more.
