Dark gold in the glass, and straight away it’s all seaside sheds, old tin boxes, iodine and smoked fish. Proper wow moment 😅 I get kippers, anchovies, pickled sardines, then this big salty peat with a bit of motor oil and creosote. Not exactly smooth and silky, more brutal in a fun way. Then sweeter bits pop up — sultanas, dried fruits, mangos, tangerines, crystallised papayas and strong chestnut honey. Finish is a bit short, but the whole thing feels wild, peppery, and oddly enchanting.

First sip was pretty brutal, wow! Salty peat, iodine and kippers straight away, like smoked fish by the harbour, with old tin boxes and a funny pickled sardines thing. Then it softens a bit into dried fruits, prunes, sultanas, mangos and crystallised papayas, plus honeydew and nutmeg. Not really smooth and silky, more peppery and cumin-spiced, but there’s a odd little enchantment to it 😊

Dark gold in the glass, and it hits a bit harder than 43%, honestly more like 50%. I get salty smoked fish, kippers, iodine, a bit of motor oil and old tin boxes, then this odd sweet bit of chestnut honey, sultanas, prunes and mango. Peppery too, with cumin and nutmeg kicking about. Not exactly smooth, more rough round the edges, but quite charming in that seaside, peatier-than-expected way. Finish is short, salty, smoky, and a bit medicinal 😄

Just poured a glass, and the aroma's an aromatic blitzkrieg – exotic chicory and toasted bread hit straightaway. It's deep gold, sumptuous, with a salty seawater and shellfish vibe, very maritime. Austere but meaty, less precise on the palate, a bit tighter. Tastes of canned fruits, jams, and that proverbial mango, though less on fresh fruits. Finish is very slightly short, but incredible with acrid smoke and orange marmalade. Has that Islay countryside rural touch, never been exactly the same. More smoke, masterful. 😊

Tried this one neat last evening, and straight away it was like an aromatic blitzkrieg – mango and orange marmalade popping out, but then it got all maritime, you know, seawater and kelp, even a shellfish vibe, maybe oysters. 🥃 The smoke came in more, acrid at first but evolved into something sumptuous, with a malty base and touches of chicory and iodine. Felt tighter, less precise, almost austere, with a rural Islay countryside feel – like wandering through fields. Less on fresh fruits, more like exotic jams, and that multi-vintage aspect gave it depth. Very slightly short on the end, but masterful overall. 😊
