Just poured myself a dram – first sip, rather spicy arrival, ginger popping up right away. 🥃 Then I get lavender and sawdust, maybe pencil shavings too. Feels medium but gritty, very dry on the palate. Reminds me of spicy bread sprinkled with custard, with a hint of maple syrup. Bitter cocoa comes through, and it's so oaky – really very oaky, like typical oak juice. More and more oak gets in the way as it sits. Colour gold, drying finish with a caraway bread note. Complex, but oak dominates everything.

The gold colour looked inviting. First sip – rather spicy arrival with ginger and loads of cinnamon, really bags and bags of it. Very oaky, frankly over-oaked, and as I drank, more and more oak just got in the way. Sweet notes of maple syrup and a creamy coconut cream touch, but it's drying and gritty. Medium body overall. Finished with a caraway bread vibe. 🥃

Oh wow, this one hits you right away. A rather spicy arrival for sure. Get a lot of oak, like... really very oaky. It's almost frankly over-oaked for me, more and more oak gets in the way as I sip. Pencil shavings and that typical oak juice note are strong. But then there's this lovely core of maple syrup and coconut cream trying to peek through. I also get hints of lavender and ginger, and bags and bags of cinnamon. It's like a spicy gingerbread biscuit sitting in a woodshop. The mouthfeel is medium, leaving a drying sensation. Finish has that bitter cocoa and something like caraway bread. A dash of water might help better vatted this cask's character. Overall, it's a big, oaky, spicy dram. Cheers 🥃

Had a sip and it really hit me as very oaky – like typical oak juice with sawdust. Caraway bread and spicy bred sprinkled with custard came to mind, with bags and bags of cinnamon. But then it got over-infused, like tea left too long, and more and more oak got in the way. Frankly, it was over-oaked, gritty, and drying. Medium in weight, with hints of lavender and bitter cocoa. Not sure if it was better vatted this cask, but it's a bit much for me. 🥃🤔

Just had a sip, and wow, it's got this vanilla and caramel sweetness that's really nice. 😊 I'm getting some cologne-like notes, maybe from the oak? It's a bit citric, like lemon zest, and there's a floral hint of violets. The oak is there, but I'm not buying all this oak – it's a bit too much sometimes. On the palate, it's rounder, with buckwheat crepes and bags of cinnamon. There's tannicity, like black tea, and a rye spiciness. Feels like more action than usual, making it a little better than expected. Some lavender and gold in the aroma? I get bitter oranges and marmalade-y notes, like sunshine in a glass. The finish is rather long, with vanillin and orange zests lingering. It's got a bitter edge, like raspberry jam with a kick. Overall, a decent dram for a quiet evening. 🥃
