This dram’s a proper head-turner – the colour’s this walnut stain, like really dark, and the nose? Smells like black raisins and strong honey got into a scrap with a sherry-dominated thing. There’s this adventurous lift, almost like chestnut honey and lapsang souchong had a chat in a souk – new leather jacket in a souk, yeah, that kinda vibe. The first sip hits with crude cocoa and blackest chocolate ever, but then it veers into soy sauce and miso, which is… oddly brilliant. Hints of beef stock and BBQ-y smoke linger, while the heavy liquorice and old rancio make it feel like you’re chewing on a walnut-stained antique. The ammonia shows up late, but it’s not offensive, just adds this edge. Long finish, loads of chestnut and sherried Ballechins, with a whisper of ammonia and strong honey clinging on. Quite something, really – not for the faint-hearted, but I’d have another.🥃

Like diving into a vat of the blackest chocolate ever mixed with sherry-soaked raisins. 🤯 The nose has this meaty, umami thing – beef stock and lapsang souchong smoke – but then also a surprising sweetness, like honey and glazed chestnuts. It’s adventurous, alright. A bit of acetone and varnish upfront gives it a kick, but it settles into something deeply savoury and BBQ-y. Really lingers with that old rancio feel. Colour is a beautiful deep dark amber, like looking through stained glass. Definitely one to sit with. 👍

Gets you thinking of new leather jacket in a souk, maybe some lapsang souchong smokiness underneath. There's a chestnut honey sweetness fighting with a varnish-y, almost acetone sharpness that somehow works? Umami notes creep in, like a dash of soy sauce. Peanut butter comes through oddly late. Finish is long, leaving you with this BBQ-y, old rancio character and a whisper of heavy liquorice. Definitely adventurous stuff. You don't just drink it, you have a full-on conversation with it. 🥃
