Just had a wee dram that’s got this lovely floral side, almost like violets peeking out. Then it shifts—some earthy, damp soil notes come through, a bit of mushroom and undergrowth. There’s a surprising kick of pepper, freshly cracked, and a touch of juniper playing hide-and-seek. Goes down with a packs a punch kind of warmth, but then softens into something like chestnuts and dark nougat. A hint of hoisin sauce? Odd but nice. Finish is long, lingering with pipe tobacco and a whisper of cherry liqueur. 🤔 The aftertaste is brilliant—pine needles and walnut stain, slightly thick. Gets me thinking of rum-laced crème brûlée and a deep, almost vermilion copper hue in the glass. Properly heady stuff. 🥃
