Port Ellen 1974 22 Years Single Malt Whisky

Had a dram last night, just pure quality 🥃 Nose straight off is campfire smoke and a whiff of TCP, but like in a good way? Then this lovely honeycombe sweetness comes through 🍯 On the taste… ooft, that peaty punch 🔥 then settles into dark choclate, sultanas, and a cheeky hint of seasalt. Chewy mouthfeel, proper oily. Finnish is loooong, woody spice and a curl of vanilla. It just clings, no harshness. Absolute belly-warmer. One of those you just sit and sniff for ages.

Ooh, that first sip... 😋 Right away, you get this lovely hit of salted orange peel, zesty but not sharp, y'know? Then it sorta mellows into a warm, peppery hug. 🫠 There's a bit of smokiness in there, like a distant bonfire on a crisp night, not overpowering at all. Underneath, a nice hint of toffee or caramel sweetness comes through. Really well balanced, init? Just keeps evolving in the glass. A proper sipper for a quiet evening. 👍
