Wow, this one’s a vatting of two casks and it’s extremely good. Got a really restrained wood influence, lovely. First sip, you think... is this tequila? No, no, not tequila at all! It’s cleaner than that. At times I think it’s Bruichladdich, you know? It’s medium in body, with a little heather honey, very clean. Pretty much the same flavours keep coming back. Notes of kiwis, maybe? And a growing herbal side, some straw. A drop of brine in there, gooseberries... a wee bit of pineapple chutney, green melons. The mouth feel is rather oily. There’s a coastal side, a wee saltiness. Some honey, cider apples. I get grapefruit juice, maybe a touch of liquorice wood. Honestly, it reminds me of a well-prepared margarita, that limejuice indeed. Not quite Chartreuse yet. Definitely one of my favourite recent drams. That superb first fill sherry cask work really shines through. Self-suggestion? Maybe, but it’s delicious. 🥃
