This move was subsequently mirrored by fellow Speyside distillery Balblair, signaling a broader industry shift. The distillery's production philosophy centers on exceptional wood management, with over 90% of its spirit matured in sherry casks, predominantly first-fill, representing a significant investment as sherry casks command substantially higher prices than ex-bourbon alternatives. Glenrothes employs a 5.5-ton stainless steel full-lauter mash tun for optimal wort extraction. Fermentation occurs across two dedicated spaces: a traditional room housing 12 Oregon pine washbacks and a contemporary facility with 8 stainless steel fermenters, both utilizing an extended 58-hour fermentation cycle to develop complex flavor precursors. The stillhouse operates five sets of slow-distillation stills, a deliberate process that encourages copper interaction and creates the distillery's characteristic elegant, fruity spirit character. In 2019, the distillery projected production capacity of 44 mashes weekly, yielding over 4 million liters of new make spirit annually. The majority of this output is reserved for single malt production, with the remainder serving as premium blending stock. ¡Ey, este whisky es una pasada! 😄 Primero, el aroma me llegó con humo suave, como leña vieja. Luego, un toque frutal... quizás manzana o algo así, dulce sin ser empalagoso. En boca, siento especias, un picorcito que no molesta, y al final un regusto a miel o vainilla. 🍯🔥 A veces me parece un poco tostado, como nueces o algo así. No es demasiado fuerte, pero tampoco light. Perfecto para relajarse, aunque a veces se me va la pinza con los sabores. 😅

¡Qué wisky más interesante! 😊 Tiene un sabor a frutas maduras, como ciruelas y manzanas, con un toquecillo de canela. Y ese final ahumado... 🔥 Me recuerda a una fogata en la playa. Un poco de vainilla también, muy suave. ¡Me encanta tomarlo con hielo en los días calurosos! 🥃 Che, a veces tiene un retrogusto a chocolate amargo, pero no es desagradable. La textura es como seda, muy agradable. ¡Salud! 👍
