Penderyn 2010 10 años Single Malt Whisky

1895: In July, the Walsh Whisky Distillery Co. received a royal warrant from Queen Victoria to produce whisky, but the venture couldn't withstand the powerful temperance movement and was liquidated within five years. A century later, in a 'post-industrial era' pub at the foot of Wales' Brecon Beacons National Park, companions raised their glasses and dreamed of resurrecting the Welsh whisky tradition that had been dormant for a century. They chose the historic village of Penderyn, where natural spring water flows. Dr. David Faraday, descendant of the great 19th-century scientist and electromagnetism pioneer Michael Faraday, designed their unique single-pot still, producing a single malt spirit of exceptional purity at 92% ABV. The new-make spirit began its journey in Buffalo Trace barrels, and when nearing maturity, was transferred to Madeira, Sherry, peat, and soft oak casks, creating the distinct flavors of Penderyn Welsh whisky. Within a decade, the distillery was producing pure and precious Welsh whisky, like liquid Welsh gold, as seen today in Penderyn Gold. On St. David's Day 2004, HRH Prince Charles unveiled Penderyn Welsh whisky. Through continuous investment, innovation, dedication, and attention to detail, using the finest barley and premium American oak barrels, Penderyn rapidly gained international acclaim and numerous awards. Since 2015, Penderyn has sponsored the prestigious Penderyn Music Book Prize and the Wales national football team.
