Old Overholt is America's oldest continuously maintained brand of rye whiskey, founded in 1810 by Abraham Overholt in West Overton, Pennsylvania. This historic straight rye whiskey, distilled by A. Overholt & Co., survived Prohibition (as a medicinal whiskey) and numerous ownership changes throughout its two-century-plus history. Currently owned by Beam Suntory (a subsidiary of Japan's Suntory Holdings), Old Overholt has experienced a modern renaissance, expanding from its classic 80-proof bottling to include higher-proof and bonded expressions that appeal to contemporary whiskey enthusiasts while maintaining its reputation as an accessible, quality rye for cocktails and sipping.
