Drumguish Single Malt Whisky

Drumguish is the inaugural single malt whisky from Speyside Distillery near Kingussie, a passion project meticulously realized over 25 years by Glasgow-based whisky blender and broker George Christie. The distillery commenced operations in 1990, and while its spirit would later be bottled as Glentromie and the flagship Speyburn, its maiden release bore the name Drumguish—a tribute to the surrounding locale and a historic 19th-century distillery that once operated in the area. Uniquely designed for artisanal production rather than mass output, the distillery is equipped with modestly-scaled equipment: a single 4-ton Boby grist mill, four 20,000-liter washbacks, a 13,000-liter wash still, and a 7,000-liter spirit still—both stills handcrafted by the legendary Forsyth's of Rothes. Mass production was never founder George Christie's ambition. The distillery continues to draw pure water from the River Tromie using a traditional water wheel installed in the original plant, employing this pristine water source throughout the distillation and cooling processes.
