18th Street Brewery was founded in 2010 by Drew Fox as a family-owned craft brewery rooted in the American Midwest. After years of meticulous practice, continuous learning, and passionate exploration of brewing arts, the brewery achieved its defining moment in 2013 with the launch of SINISTER Double IPA—an audacious hop-forward beer that established its reputation in the competitive craft beer landscape. Shortly following SINISTER's critical acclaim, 18th Street opened its first brewpub in a repurposed 3,200 square meter historic dry-cleaning facility in Gary, Indiana. This distinctive location, where industrial heritage meets modern brewing innovation, became the brand's spiritual home and catalyst for rapid community-driven growth. Building on this momentum, the brewery strategically acquired a 32,000 square foot state-of-the-art production facility in Hammond, Indiana, now housing their full-scale production line, advanced canning and packaging systems, an extensive barrel-aging program for sour and imperial beers, a flagship taproom featuring 30+ rotating taps, and a full-service kitchen specializing in beer-pairing cuisine. The original Gary location has evolved into an innovation laboratory, featuring a 10-barrel small-batch open fermentation system that honors traditional Belgian and farmhouse brewing techniques while enabling experimental releases. This venue operates as an intimate neighborhood taproom, craft cocktail bar showcasing beer spirits, and a from-scratch kitchen. Today, 18th Street Brewery stands as a beacon of American craft brewing excellence, seamlessly blending time-honored traditions with boundary-pushing innovation, maintaining unwavering commitment to quality, authenticity, and the artisanal spirit of independent brewing.
