Whiskyspace Notes 1684

Right, had a go at this one last night and honestly it's completely different from what I'd normally reach for. There's this raw grain spirit quality at first that doesn't resemble whisky at all, but it's assertive in a very nice way. The colour's this gorgeous deep gold. Getting notes of plum pudding and hints of sultanas, maybe even some prunes. A bit of that cured ham savouriness coming through, almost like pemmican or beef bouillon territory 🤔 As it opens up, there's this extremely coffeeish thing happening, almost like Coffee-schnapps, and I'm picking up some hay and parsley - even a touch of lovage which is wild. Getting more complex with each sip honestly. It's like someone mixed Californian sherry with something and left it to develop all these layers. The coffeeish again quality just keeps coming back. There's this long finish with some tertiary notes that are frankly quite unusual. Worth trying if you fancy something a bit different. Not your typical dram but it's improving as it sits. Quite the experience really 😊
