Kentucky Owl is an American whiskey brand founded in 1879 by Charles Mortimer Dedman. However, in 1916, on the eve of Prohibition, production was forced to cease due to local government alcohol prohibition. All the original whiskey intended for Kentucky Owl was seized by the government and stored in bonded warehouses. Unfortunately, the warehouse storing the original whiskey caught fire, destroying everything, and Kentucky Owl was lost to history. In 2014, founder's great-great-grandson Dixon Dedman and business partners revived Kentucky Owl. Since then, they have released seven award-winning bourbon expressions. To build on this success, Kentucky Owl now introduces this rye whiskey, a perfect complement to their barrel-proof bourbon. The rye spent 11 years in barrels before being blended and bottled at 110.6 proof. Kentucky Owl continuously seeks more possibilities and innovations in American whiskey flavor profiles. With rich, quality bourbon barrel resources and John Rhea's 40 years of experience in American whiskey, the brand explores collaborations with Master Blenders from different countries, regions, and styles, bringing their understanding of local whiskey flavors into American whiskey. Currently, Kentucky Owl @ International Collaboration Limited Edition has launched its third edition by 2023, collaborating with Master Blenders from Ireland, Japan, and Scotland. All batches are released only once as limited editions. About Maureen Robinson: Maureen Robinson is one of Scotland's finest and most experienced Master Blenders. As a 45-year veteran of Scotch whisky, she was among the first women in the Scottish whisky industry to receive the title "Master Blender." She joined Diageo's predecessor DCL (Distillers Company Limited) in 1977 as a young scientist. It was here that her exceptional palate was discovered, revealing her potential as a whisky blending talent. She spent 9 years developing her sensory skills and tasting abilities, even creating her own language to describe what she perceived when tasting whisky. Maureen is regarded as a pioneer and trailblazer, highly respected by colleagues, whisky experts (including Dave Broom and Bernhard Schafer), and whisky enthusiasts and collectors (especially in Taiwan and China). During her 45-year career, Maureen has worked on blending for numerous Scotch whisky brands, including Singleton (world's 5th largest single malt), Johnnie Walker (world's largest blended Scotch), Buchanan's (world's 7th largest blended Scotch), Old Parr (3rd largest in Latin America), Diageo Special Releases, Casks of Distinction program, and Prima & Ultima series (prestige & prestige plus). Career highlights: - 2012: Invited to become a Keeper of the Quaich to honor her outstanding contributions to the Scotch whisky industry. - October 2022: Awarded Master of the Quaich, one of only 20 women globally, further recognizing her achievements in the Scottish industry. - 2019: Inducted into the Scotch Whisky Hall of Fame as one of 60 whisky masters.
