With support from Asian investors, Liam Hughes and Ian MacDougall began producing gin in October 2014 and whisky on March 20, 2015. This is the first distillery to be established in Glasgow since 1902. Current production capacity is approximately 120,000 liters of pure alcohol, expandable to 250,000 liters. The distillery manager is Jack Mayo, and the distilling consultant is David Robertson, former manager of Macallan Distillery, who is currently planning to build a new distillery in Edinburgh. Glasgow Distillery also produces Makar's Gin and currently offers a Speyside single malt whisky called 'Prometheus'.

Glen Scotia operates a dedicated experimental lab where they test various grain bills, distillation techniques, and cask types. Most intriguingly, they're using a gin still nicknamed "Annie" to develop an entirely new line of spirits—blending whisky tradition with gin's crisp distillation methods.
