Glen Cawdor Distillery was a Highland single malt whisky distillery established in the late 19th century near the River Nairn, strategically positioned along the Inverness-Elgin railway line in the Scottish Highlands. Founded by three local businessmen on a six-acre plot, the distillery held architectural significance through its design by Charles Doig, the renowned Scottish architect who pioneered the iconic pagoda-style chimney that became a signature feature of Scotch whisky distilleries worldwide. Following the dissolution of the founding company in 1901, Glen Cawdor was acquired by the historic John Haig & Co. in 1903. The distillery ceased production in 1927 during the interwar period of industry consolidation and was completely demolished by 1930, leaving no physical trace. Today, Glen Cawdor is classified as a 'lost distillery' of the Highlands, with its extremely rare bottles commanding significant interest among collectors and whisky historians, representing a vanished chapter of Scotland's whisky heritage.
