Lochindaal
Lochindaal is an ultra-rare, experimental single malt whisky brand produced by Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay from 2007 to 2015. Created as a peated counterpart to Bruichladdich's unpeated style, Lochindaal whiskies featured a phenol level of 50ppm, positioning them between the medium-peated Port Charlotte (40ppm) and the heavily-peated Octomore series. The brand championed terroir-driven production, utilizing 100% Islay-grown barley from a single farm, reflecting Bruichladdich's commitment to provenance. Despite critical acclaim, fewer than 20 expressions were ever released before the distillery ceased production, rendering Lochindaal a 'ghost brand'—highly sought-after by collectors and investors. Bottles now command premium prices at auction, prized for their maritime complexity, balanced peat integration, and historical significance as one of Islay's most enigmatic limited productions.
