High Coast Distillery (formerly Box Distillery) is located in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Höga Kusten (High Coast) region, approximately 500 km north of Stockholm, Sweden. Founded in 2010, the distillery was originally named 'Box' after the nearby village but rebranded to 'High Coast' in 2021 following a trademark dispute with Compass Box Whisky Co. The distillery leverages the region's extreme temperature fluctuations—ranging from -25°C in winter to +25°C in summer—which accelerates maturation and creates a unique interaction between spirit and wood. Known for using Swedish oak, local barley, and innovative cask management, High Coast produces single malt whiskies that reflect the rugged Nordic terroir, with expressions like 'Timmer' and 'Dálvve' showcasing their signature style of balanced complexity and coastal character.
